Vitor Pereira is preparing to go into his second season with Nottingham Forest.

Since joining in February, Vitor Pereira has picked up the ninth most points in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest.

Pereira also guided them to a Europa League final, so, quite clearly, he has made a really positive start to his career in the East Midlands.

🔥If Nottingham Forest keep all four of their current strikers, who should start 2026/27 as the first choice for Vitor Pereira?🤔

Ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, we decided to look back on how the Portuguese boss usually fares in the second year with his previous clubs.

How Vitor Pereira usually fares in his second season

Pereira has a very mixed record in his second season, and his last one with Wolverhampton Wanderers ended in disaster.

After getting a bounce with the West Midlanders during the 2024/25 campaign, many felt his side could push on and away from relegation the following year.

However, Pereira was sacked just 10 games into the campaign after failing to pick up a single victory. Wolves were subsequently relegated under Rob Edwards’ stewardship.

His previous job before that was in Saudi Arabia with Al-Shabab, and that was a lot more successful, albeit at a much lower standard.

Pereira’s side started the second year well, winning seven of their first 13 matches, before he left to join Wolves.

Another notable second campaign includes his spell at Porto, when he managed to sustain the success he had in his debut year by winning another league title.

But the reality is that six of his managerial jobs haven’t even reached the second season, so it’s really hard to judge Pereira.

The narrative that he’s only a firefighter manager is harsh when you consider the success he had with Porto.

Also, he would argue that he wasn’t adequately backed at Wolves to really kick on, and there is a large element of truth in that.

So, a very telling season lies ahead for Pereira and Nottingham Forest.

The 57-year-old will be motivated to prove his naysayers wrong and demonstrate his ability to build a high-level team over a prolonged period of time.
