Steve Cooper will forever be remembered as a modern-day legend at Nottingham Forest, and his next job could be confirmed soon.

The Reds won promotion to the Premier League in 2021/22 after Cooper replaced Chris Hughton and took the team from the bottom of the Championship to promotion via the play-offs.

Steve Cooper in line for Burnley job

According to Sky Sports News, Burnley are now placing Cooper under consideration for their vacancy along with Rob Edwards.

This comes after a move to appoint Wales manager Craig Bellamy fell through, with the former Premier League striker choosing to remain on the international stage.

Cooper had been linked with the Wales job himself, but now he could be gearing up for his first Championship position since leaving Forest.

Cooper would be a very popular pick for any Championship club, given that his record is pretty impressive in the second tier.

Having struggled during his second season in the Premier League with Forest and then at Leicester, it’s highly unlikely that the top flight will come calling and as a result, the Championship looks ideal for him.

Burnley have ambitious owners, and they will be backed with a number of new players as Burnley plot their path back to the Premier League next season.

The Clarets will absolutely be up there in the mix for promotion if they do attract Cooper, and they might also get a host of new admirers as Forest fans keep an eye on what the former boss is getting up to.
