Omari Hutchinson enjoyed a pretty solid first season at Nottingham Forest after a sticky start.

Hutchinson signed for a fee of £37.5 million from Ipswich and that fee raised eyebrows considering he was a signing made by Edu and seemingly not sanctioned by Nuno Espirito Santo.

As a result, it took Hutchinson some time to get himself into the team on a regular basis, but when he did, he looked sharp in flashes.

Now, with Forest looking to add players to their ranks this summer, one player potentially linked with the City Ground would no doubt be a popular signing in the eyes of Hutchinson.

Kovacic has been loosely linked with a move to Forest on the back of City adding another midfielder to their ranks in Elliot Anderson.

If the formalities of the Anderson deal are completed, Kovacic will slip further down the pecking order, and after two injuries last season, he could be on the move.

In 2023, Hutchinson was a youngster trying to walk the pathway to first-team stardom at Chelsea, and he was asked which senior star impressed him the most.

He explained: “In terms of the first-team, it would have to be Kovacic. His calmness on the ball…Wow, what a player he is!”

Kovacic would be very useful Forest signing

The Croatian performer would provide a number of years playing football in the Premier League and on the grandest stage, following time with Real Madrid.

Kovacic has won the Champions League on four occasions, and that level of experience shouldn’t be ignored if he does arrive at the City Ground.

The midfielder does have some injury concerns that have reared their ugly head in recent years and that would definitely need weighing up if the chance to sign him arose.

However, Kovacic is a plug-and-play option and having him in the midfield ranks to keep things nice and tight could actually allow the likes of Hutchinson to thrive going forward.

Hutchinson has seen first-hand just how good the midfielder can be, and as a result, signing Kovacic on a cut-price deal could make for very good business indeed.
