Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson was in action for England against DR Congo on Wednesday evening.
Elliot Anderson started in England’s 2-1 win against DR Congo to advance to the round of 16, where they will face Mexico.
It wasn’t a vintage Three Lions performance, but they came on strong in the latter stages with Harry Kane netting a brace.

Elliot Anderson earns mixed reviews after England 2-1 DR Congo
Anderson had a very up-and-down game, but the consensus is he massively improved when Declan Rice moved to right-back.
The Nottingham Forest star appeared to benefit from more space in the middle of the park, as it was quite congested prior to that.
Here’s what The Express had to say.
6/10 – “Looked much better when playing as the lone midfielder, bizarrely. Had allowed the game to pass him by before the switch that saw Declan Rice move to right back.”
The Mirror added.
6/10 – “For an hour, he really struggled and then got better when Rice went to right back and got more space.”
The Independent stated.
6/10 – “Looked a little bit overwhelmed early on, as did most of his teammates, but he did win the ball back well at times, even if he struggled to use it as well as he would have liked. Bravely deflected Nathanael Mbuku’s goalbound shot.”

The Metro has now urged Anderson to put together a more consistent performance over 90 minutes.
6/10 – “Anderson endured a slow start to this evening’s encounter, clumsily passing the ball out of play when England were gaining momentum after DR Congo’s opener.
“Tireless and tenacious out of possession and kept his cool as England’s last man as Wissa threatened to race through on goal and restore the Leopards’ lead in the 85th minute.
“As was the case against Panama previously, it was a tale of two halves for the Nottingham Forest star. He will be looking to put that right against Mexico.”
