Oliver Glasner is the new Nottingham Forest head coach, appointed to replace Vitor Pereira.

The Portuguese head coach led Forest to safety last season with two games to spare and also reached the semi-final of the Europa League.

However, doubts were raised at board level over his ability to kick the team on next season and he was sent on his way, with Glasner quickly offered the job.

Now, the excitement levels will increase among the fan base, with Forest having lots to look forward to with Glasner at the club in time for pre-season to commence.

Oliver Glasner wants new right-back at Forest

According to the Daily Mail, Glasner and Marinakis have already held talks about transfer targets, with George Syrianos needing to get things right this summer.

It’s been claimed that Glasner thinks Forest are light at right-back, with Ola Aina the only option there whilst Neco Williams plays on the left.

He also thinks Forest need strengthening through the middle of the pitch, with Elliot Anderson completing his move to Manchester City and a new striker likely to be sought also.

Naturally, Forest will be busy in the transfer market, but it’s unlikely to be as chaotic as last summer when an influx of players signed after the season had started.

Glasner is a man-manager and also a solid tactician, which means that his remit will be to take Forest to another level by working with the players he currently has at his disposal.

The likes of Morgan Gibbs-White, Murillo and Neco Williams should remain at the football club, and that bodes well for the new head coach.

Glasner will quickly assess current squad

Whilst new signings are what will excite the Forest fan base on the back of Glasner’s arrival, outgoings will likely take place too.

Nicolo Savona will likely return to Italy and Dan Ndoye has also been linked with a move back to Serie A 12 months on from his arrival at the City Ground.

Others could depart as well but Glasner will hope that he still has a solid core of players to call upon and that his squad is ready for the campaign starting in late-August.
