Oliver Glasner will be carefully assembling a shortlist of transfer targets as he gets ready to start life as the Nottingham Forest head coach.

Glasner replaced Vitor Pereira earlier this week, with Forest now having five head coaches in the last 12 months.

Forest will be in the market for up to six new players, with Glasner already telling Evangelos Marinakis where he wants to strengthen.

Naturally, fans have speculated which Palace players might be in the club’s sights, but one Eagles player is close to completely ruling out a reunion with Glasner at Forest.

Daichi Kamada set for Crystal Palace stay

The Japan midfielder enjoyed a good World Cup, and if there is one player that Glasner has rated during his career, it’s Kamada.

Glasner has managed the 53-cap international at Eintracht Frankfurt and Palace, where he now looks set to remain.

The 29-year-old’s contract was up this summer, but Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Kamada is going to sign a new one-year deal to remain in South East London.

Kamada has made 89 appearances for Palace in two seasons at the club, scoring three goals and claiming eight assists.

He’s proved a reliable member of the squad under Glasner’s tutelage, and he might have proved a useful option for Forest.

Glasner will aim higher for midfield target

Forest have Nicolas Dominguez and Ryan Yates as squad options already at the club, and it’s fair to say that Kamada wouldn’t be considered the Elliot Anderson replacement.

Perhaps the club have a bigger, more expensive target in mind to fill the midfield void for next season, with Glasner claiming he wants reinforcements in that area.

Kamada isn’t really an upgrade on Dominguez, and ultimately, it’s unlikely that too many fans or Glasner will be losing much sleep over the decision made by the Japanese performer.

It remains to be seen whether any Palace players will be targeted this summer, and it will be fascinating to see which players get linked with Forest first after Glasner’s arrival.
