Nottingham Forest are stepping up their desire to sign a new right-back by bidding for Feyenoord defender Givairo Read.
The 20-year-old has been courted by a number of top European clubs previously but it’s Forest who look to have made the first move.
What should Oliver Glasner’s target be in the Premier League this season? 🤔
Read made 16 appearances for Feyenoord last season, including three in the Europa League.
Forest are searching for new players, with Oliver Glasner already telling Evangelos Marinakis of his desire for another right-back.
Now, with Forest making a bid, Feyenoord have delivered an emphatic response to the club’s advances.
Forest told what they must do to sign Givairo Read
According to Dutch outlet VI, it took a matter of minutes for Feyenoord to reject Forest’s £22 million bid.
The Eredivisie outfit have explained to the Reds that if they’re serious about landing Read, they will need to up the ante considerably and bring a better offer to the table.
Is Givairo Read the right player to provide competition for Ola Aina?
How would you rate this signing out of 10?
Feyenoord rejected an offer over £18 million in January from Paris FC, and the club values him much higher than the bid which was proposed by Forest.
It’s claimed in the report that Read does want to play in the Premier League and that Feyenoord will consider a sale if they receive a top offer from a club.
Now, Forest must decide whether he’s the man they really want as the new right-back, or whether they will head elsewhere to look for competition for Ola Aina.
Forest signing Read would be a statement
Although Read isn’t exactly a household name in the world of football, the clubs linked with him tell a story.
Bayern Munich and Manchester City have been linked in the past and landing a 20-year-old would be a serious play from a Forest perspective.

Read would perhaps need a bit of time to settle in, but given his desire to get forward, he could be perfect to play in a system deployed by Oliver Glasner.
Givairo Read to Forest – The Editor’s View
Look, if Glasner wants a talented, young and hungry right-back, then who are we to tell him otherwise?
The last big money player who came from Holland was Ibrahim Sangare, and although he took some time to get up to speed, he is now integral to the team’s fortunes.
This signing would be a solid 7.5/10 from us and hopefully, Forest can make a breakthrough quickly to avoid those clubs in European competitions from re-entering the race.
