Nottingham Forest are being heavily linked with a move for Feyenoord defender Givairo Read.
Oliver Glasner is keen to bring new players to the City Ground, and ultimately, it will be quality over quantity this summer for the Reds.
Is Givairo Read the right player to provide competition for Ola Aina?
How would you rate this signing out of 10?
Forest need competition for Ola Aina’s place this summer, with the Nigerian likely to be the only right-back once Nicolo Savona heads back to Italy.
Glasner has already stated a desire to bring a full-back to the City Ground, and Evangelos Marinakis will want to keep his head coach sweet this summer.
Read is now a concrete target for Forest, it would seem, according to VI, with other clubs likely to be in the mix.
Reading the news this morning, we know what you’re thinking: Who is Read, and would he be a good fit at Forest?
Who is Givairo Read?
Givairo Read was born in Amsterdam on 3 June 2006, and the player is now 20-years-old.
Football has been in his blood from an early age, with the player rising through the academy with local club Zeeburgia.
In 2017, he moved to FC Volendam, making his debut for the senior team in 2022.

The 2-0 win over ASWH saw him become the youngest ever player to play for Jong Volendam in the Dutch third tier, with Read just 15 when he achieved that.
The right-back only actually made a single appearance in the Eredivisie for FC Volendam before moving on.
In 2023, Read earned a move to one of the big three football clubs in the Netherlands, with Feyenoord taking him on.
It was actually Robin van Persie who convinced Read to head to Feyenoord amid vast interest from other clubs.
Read has now made 54 appearances for the Dutch giants, but given the clubs linked with him this summer, it remains to be seen whether or not he’s made his last.
What is Givairo Read like as a player?
Read is 5ft 9in and operates on the right side of a defensive unit.
During his time with Feyenoord, he’s been deployed as a right-back as part of a back four, or as a wing-back when three central defenders have been used.
Read has only ever played as a right-sided defender across his career and as a result, it’s quite clear why Forest want to sign him.
WhoScored highlights his main strengths as being dribbling, keeping possession, passing and making key passes as he progresses higher up the pitch.
With that in mind, it would appear that he has a lot of the same qualities as Aina and given that the pair would be direct rivals, that makes a lot of sense.

The Scouting App also praises Read’s physicality, saying: “Physically, Read possesses the ideal athletic profile for his position. He has excellent agility, speed in transitions, the ability to cover large spaces along the flank and the stamina to sustain high-intensity play for 90 minutes.”
How much will Givairo Read cost?
According to VI, Feyenoord are looking for a lot more than the £22 million that has already been offered by Forest.
It’s not clear exactly how much he will cost, but a fee close to £30 million will surely entice the Dutch outfit to at least consider selling him.
Read has a contract with his current club until 2029, and there will be no real urgency to sell him this summer.
However, with top European clubs now sniffing around him, Forest might feel they can get this one over the line should they deem him to be worth £30 million.
