Kevin Nolan’s son gets a Nottingham Forest scholarship

Nolan’s son began playing for Forest when he was in charge of Notts County back when Alan Hardy owned the club.

Nolan proved a pretty useful manager for Notts, and it was during his tenure at Meadow Lane that his son, Sonny, was picked up by Forest.

Now, eight years later, Nolan has seen his son handed a scholarship with the Reds, and the hard work starts now for the youngster.

Nolan has already been at the club since the age of eight, and now the 16-year-old will hope to prove himself for the under-18s during the 2026/27 campaign.

Who is Sonny Nolan?

As you already know, he’s the son of a Premier League stalwart in Kevin Nolan, and with that, big things will be expected from him at Forest.

Nolan Jr is currently 16, and it’s believed he will play with the under-18s next season and operate as a central midfielder.

Interestingly, Nolan actually made some appearances for Forest’s under-18s last season, playing 11 times and totalling 265 minutes on the pitch.

Those outings were likely an audition of sorts to determine whether or not he would receive a scholarship, and clearly, he passed with flying colours.

Now, with Kevin as his dad, the pressure will be on Sonny as he looks to establish himself as a scholar at Forest and prove he’s got what it takes to earn a professional contract.
