Other players made their mark at the World Cup, with Ibrahim Sangare and Chris Wood both featuring for the Ivory Coast and New Zealand, respectively.

Angus Gunn was the surprise choice by Steve Clarke to keep goal for Scotland during their three games, too, although he’s now been released by Forest.

The other man at the World Cup from the Forest squad was Dan Ndoye, and perhaps the Reds have one of the best players in the world in waiting…maybe.

Dan Ndoye stats from the World Cup are remarkable

Switzerland made history at the World Cup by reaching the quarter-final for the first time, and they received a hero’s welcome back in Zurich this week.

Ndoye scored in the last eight defeat to Argentina over the weekend, and the World Cup official statistics show that the Forest man is sixth on the list of players to have had the most shots inside the penalty area during the tournament.

He had 15 shots inside the area, which was more than Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Diaz and Vinicius Junior, showcasing that, given the right style of play, he could thrive.

It’s quite impressive to keep getting into position time and time again, and at Forest, he will be operating with better players who can help create even more chances for him.

Switzerland weren’t dominant in possession of the ball or overly creative, yet Ndoye was not fazed and still managed to get himself ahead of some top stars for shots inside the box.

Some of the players on the list are ahead of Ndoye merely because they’ve played more matches, and ultimately, Forest might feel that they can have a gem on their hands if he clicks under Glasner.

Will Oliver Glasner utilise any of the forgotten men at Nottingham Forest? If so, who?

Let us know who you have high hopes for…

Ndoye could earn chance at Forest

It’s not clear when Ndoye is due to return to Forest, but Glasner has spoken to his World Cup players, and they have reached a compromise to come back earlier than planned.

Ndoye will likely want to give the Premier League a proper crack of the whip, and he will hope that he doesn’t end up being sold by the club.

Glasner is very unlikely to let any player leave without running the rule over him, and as a result, that bodes well for Ndoye.

The challenge for him is to toughen up and showcase to his critics that he can keep getting into good areas and start scoring goals for the club.
