Nottingham Forest have made Lucas Bergvall their number one target.

After losing Elliot Anderson to Manchester City, Nottingham Forest are now accelerating a deal to sign Lucas Bergvall from Tottenham Hotspur.

Forest’s opening bid worth £38m has been rejected, but Evangelos Marinakis and his chiefs are expected to return with a second offer.

Spurs want £50m to sanction his sale, so the £12m gap in valuation is certainly surmountable, making a deal quite likely.

With that said, ahead of Bergvall’s potential move to Nottingham Forest, here are six interesting facts about the Sweden international you may not know.

Lucas Bergvall made Sweden history this summer

During the World Cup this summer, Bergvall made history for his country.

The 20-year-old became the youngest-ever Swedish player to feature in a World Cup game when he came on as a substitute in the 5-1 win against Tunisia.

Bergvall snubbed a move to Barcelona

Before joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2024, Bergvall was offered the chance to sign for La Liga giants Barcelona.

Explaining his reasoning for choosing Spurs, he stated: “It felt better in the stomach. They are both incredible clubs.

“It was a very difficult choice, it was 50-50 for a very long time, but it felt like the next step for me was Tottenham. It was not very easy to say no to Barcelona, it took a very long time to decide. It was a tough decision.”

Bergvall comes from a sporting family

Bergvall has an older brother who is also a professional footballer, as Theo plies his trade for Swiss top-flight side Lausanne-Sport.

His younger brother, Rasmus, plays for Swedish outfit Brommapojkarna. Both operate as right-backs, interestingly.

Bergvall’s mother, Malin, played professionally for Djurgardens and his father, Andreas, was a semi-pro footballer as well.

Even his grandmother, Lillemor, was a goalkeeper until she was 48 years old.

Quite clearly, the Nottingham Forest target was born to be a professional athlete.

Bergvall stunned world-class academies before he was well known

In 2019, Bergvall helped his underdog side IF Brommapojkarna win the prestigious under-13 Madrid Football Cup.

Along the way, the 2006-born helped his team defeat Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

Bergvall was on trial at Manchester United

Around his 16th birthday, Bergvall was actually on trial with Manchester United, but Brexit rules prevented them from signing him on an official deal.

United continued to scout him when he returned to Sweden, but Spurs were quick to land his signature a couple of years later.

Bergvall was a Golden Boy nominee

After impressing in his debut season for Tottenham, Bergvall was nominated to win the Golden Boy award in 2025.

The midfielder won enough votes to finish 10th in the rankings, whilst the trophy went to Paris Saint-Germain winger Desire Doue, who scored a brace in the Champions League final that year.
