Schlager is penning a contract until 2028 with the option for Forest to extend it by a year, and the addition to the squad is all Glasner’s doing.

The pair worked together at Wolfsburg, and now he will become the first signing of the Glasner revolution at the City Ground.

Xaver Schlager tells Forest fans what to expect from Glasner

Schlager will check in at Forest this week, and it would appear that he already has some guidance for the Forest fans when it comes to how the team will play.

The Reds are going to get themselves a very experienced midfielder when he checks in and fans might be excited at what he’s said about the Glasner experience.

In a previous interview, he said: “Everyone knows what we have to do: run, run. If we’re brave, we can cause any team problems. It’s disgusting to play against.

“He likes to play football the way I imagine it. It’s about intensity, pressing high and being brave.”

Forest have a lot to look forward to

The Reds will hope to get off to a winning start this weekend against Notts County, before jetting off to Portugal for three more friendlies.

Glasner will hope that his first signing coming to the club will spark a domino effect and bring more new additions to the City Ground, with this being the first piece of the jigsaw.

Will Oliver Glasner utilise any of the forgotten men at Nottingham Forest? If so, who?

Let us know who you have high hopes for…

Schlager is a relative unknown quantity, although he was part of the Austria squad at the World Cup and played in all four of the team’s games at the tournament.

The 28-year-old played 26 times for Leipzig last season but wasn’t given a new contract, with Forest now getting the player on a free transfer.
