Elliot Anderson officially swapped Nottingham Forest for Manchester City shortly after England’s win over DR Congo in the last-32 of the World Cup.
The midfielder spent two seasons at Forest, and his form earned him a £116 million move to the Etihad Stadium.
Anderson has proved himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League during his time at Forest and richly deserves this move.

In two seasons with the club, he was virtually ever-present, making 92 appearances and registering 17 goal contributions.
After helping England to third place at the World Cup, Anderson has taken to social media to properly thank the Forest faithful for all of their love and support.

Anderson has shown class throughout the transfer saga that developed between Forest and City, with the player going with the club’s best wishes.
Forest will now hope that Anderson is the only big-name departure this summer as Oliver Glasner tries to get the club moving in the right direction.
With the dust now settling on the World Cup, Anderson will head off for a break but before he does, he’s sent an emotional message to the supporters who have backed him on Trentside.
He posted on X: “Forest family,
“Firstly, I am so grateful for the love and support you have shown me over the last 2 years, especially towards the end of this season. From the minute I walked through the door, I fell in love with this club.
“I want to thank all the staff and players for welcoming me and making my time here so enjoyable.
“This club gave me the opportunity to grow as a player and a person. Bringing the club European football again after 29 years is what all of you fans deserved, and to be a helping hand in that is so special.
“Nottingham Forest will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for all the unforgettable memories.”
Lucas Bergvall in pole position to replace Anderson
It seems clear that Forest want Lucas Bergvall as the midfielder to replace Anderson and although they’re different players, he could prove a useful signing.
The 20-year-old was also in form at the World Cup, helping Sweden make the last-32 before they lost to eventual semi-finalists, France.

Much like Anderson when Forest signed him, Bergvall is far from the finished article, but having seen the work the Reds do with younger players, it’s no surprise that he wants to join.
Forest will need to strike a deal with Tottenham first, however, and if the Reds are serious about Bergvall being the number one target, they’d be wise to simply bid what the Londoners want for his signature.
