Nottingham Forest have made a popular move when it comes to replacing Edu at the City Ground.
Edu took on a role within the Marinakis Group last summer and was tasked with overseeing recruitment at Forest, Olympiacos and Rio Ave, among other responsibilities.
Edu’s two main signings were Douglas Luiz, whose loan was terminated in January and Omari Hutchinson, who grew as a Forest player as the season progressed.
However, his fallout with Nuno Espirito Santo saw Forest’s season of chaos begin, and ultimately he’s carried the can for his ability to poke his nose where it wasn’t wanted.

Nottingham Forest promote George Syrianos
According to The Training Ground Guru, Syrianos has moved into a new role as the Chief Football Officer at the City Ground.
That essentially means that he will be responsible for a number of different things, with recruitment his main forte.
Syrianos has been with the football club for a number of years, and he’s been responsible for the Reds completing some very good business over the years.
Although there hasn’t actually been an official announcement regarding Edu, the news of this promotion for Syrianos basically confirms that he’s no longer at Forest.
What message would you send to George Syrianos as he gets to work in his new role replacing Edu? Are you happy with the decision?
Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
Syrianos is now very well respected at the City Ground, and fans will ultimately trust that the recruitment is in good hands with him taking on a bigger role.
Forest must now get to work to get some new players over the line as Oliver Glasner gets his feet under the desk and starts work on Trentside.
