Nottingham Forest are very keen to sign Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall this summer.

The need for a central midfielder has been intensified by the fact that Elliot Anderson has signed for Manchester City for £116 million.

Forest have Ibrahim Sangare, Ryan Yates and Nicolas Dominguez already in the squad, with Xaver Schlager set to sign for the club in the coming days.

Bergvall is viewed as the number one target for Forest this summer, but now, Tottenham have suggested a deal for him to leave isn’t currently close.

Tottenham make Lucas Bergvall decision

It seems as though Roberto De Zerbi is very keen to take a closer look at Bergvall during pre-season.

That’s because the Sweden international has now been named in the Tottenham squad for the pre-season tour to New Zealand and Australia in the coming days.

⭐Would you be happy with the £45m signing of Lucas Bergvall to replace Elliot Anderson? Is he right for Forest? 🤔

Bergvall is expected to fall down the pecking order amid the big-money signings of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes that have been made this summer.

The 20-year-old is thought to be keen on a move to Forest, but it looks very unlikely that anything is close, with Bergvall now set to jet off to Australia and New Zealand.

Spurs aren’t due to return from Down Under until early August, and Forest might want to have their midfielder to replace Anderson through the door by then.

If Bergvall is the number one target, Forest would be wise to simply part with the cash that Tottenham want for his services.

In the modern era, there is a sense that the deal could be completed whilst the player is in Australia, but it’s far from ideal that he’s jetting off to the other side of the world at a time when Forest seemingly want to conclude a deal.

Hopefully there can be a breakthrough soon, and now there is surely some doubt over whether or not Bergvall will even leave Tottenham this summer.
