Britt Assombalonga signs for Harborough Town
Harborough are preparing for their first-ever season as a National League North football club, and Assombalonga has been added as their marquee signing.
The player’s career has taken him far and wide, with Forest signing him for a club record £5.5 million in August 2014 when Stuart Pearce was the manager of the club.
He moved on to Middlesbrough for £15 million in 2017, but ultimately he never quite managed to scale the heights that his potential threatened to at Forest.
Assombalonga had a knack of scoring big goals against Derby County in a Forest shirt, and it will be fascinating to see if he can still cut it as a striker playing in the sixth tier of English football.

Forest are eyeing the Leverkusen performer.
Assombalonga scored 30 goals in 69 appearances for the Reds and ultimately, he never quite managed to shake off the knee injury that robbed him of nine months of his City Ground career.
It’s great to see him still playing football at 33-years-old, however, and Harborough might have just gained a number of new followers as Assombalonga’s progress is tracked.
