Nottingham Forest head coach Oliver Glasner is trying desperately to get the team ready for the 2026/27 campaign.
Forest have signed Xaver Schlager this month as the first addition to Glasner’s ranks, and Ousmane Diomande looks like being the second new signing.
Forest are definitely looking for a new right-back this summer, with a central midfielder likely to be on the shortlist too.
Now, it would appear the striker links are going to start doing the rounds but there is something with the link that just doesn’t make sense.

Nottingham Forest want Everton striker Beto
According to the Daily Mail, Forest are considering a move for Everton striker Beto, with Glasner looking to bolster his attacking ranks.
The 28-year-old scored nine goals for the Toffees last season, but David Moyes might consider letting him go in order to raise funds for his own recruitment drive.
Beto could be keen on a move to the City Ground, although it’s likely that one of the current four strikers will need to move on if another striker is added.
The Guinea-Bissau talisman is a surprise link given that Glasner has now come to the club, and something just doesn’t quite stack up with this interest.
Beto doesn’t fit the Glasner stereotype
It’s hard to imagine Beto offering much of an upgrade on any of the current strikers currently trying to impress Glasner.
Beto doesn’t feel like he has the right profile to fit what Glasner looks for in a striker, and this would be a surprise deal.

Furthermore, there is an argument that it would be strange for the Toffees to let Forest have one of their main strikers when next season the two clubs could be competing for the same prizes.
Beto would naturally divide the opinion of the fan base should he be added to the ranks, but this is the first link that just doesn’t feel like a Glasner sort of signing, and that is mildly concerning.
