Crystal Palace right-back Jack Hunt has joined Nottingham Forest on loan until 31 December

With several injuries to key players, Stuart Pearce has moved swiftly to address a potential defensive crisis with the addition of the 23-year-old.

Kelvin Wilson, Jack Hobbs, Chris Cohen, Jamaal Lascelles and Eric Lichaj are all unlikely to be fit for the opening game against Blackpool on 9 August.

Hunt, who can also play on the right side of midfield, cost the Eagles £2 million last September but broke his ankle in training before even making his debut. A loan spell at Barnsley during the second half of the season saw him make 11 appearances for the Tykes.

Having joined Huddersfield at the age of nine, the Rothwell-born player played 109 games for the Terriers after being sent on loan to Grays Athletic and Chesterfield. Hunt was named Huddersfield’s Young Player of the Year in 2012 and made the Professional Footballers’ Association League 1 Team of the Year in 2012.
