Three Nottingham Forest players have been named in the Who Scored Team of the Week for their efforts during Saturday’s 2-0 win over Wycombe.
Chris Hughton’s men claimed their second City Ground success of the campaign thanks to two Lyle Taylor goals.
The ex-Charlton striker was named in the team, partnering Blackburn hotshot Adam Armstrong in the attack.
Taylor wasn’t the only player to make the selection, however.
Goalkeeper Brice Samba was selected between the posts, making five saves and showing tremendous composure during the victory.
Also in the team was Cyrus Christie who capped a fine afternoon by claiming an assist for Taylor to open the scoring in the first half.
It’s certainly refreshing to see Forest players make the Team of the Week and highlights an improvement.
Taylor’s inclusion was a given considering his two goals but Samba and Christie showcase the defensive solidity.
The Congolese stopper has looked far more like he’s usual self since Hughton came in – and that bodes well for the future.
Christie is proving a bit of an enigma.
He’s a proven Championship performer but he has struggled for consistency during 2020/21 so far.
The 28-year-old was impressive on Saturday, however.
His assist will go alongside the goal he created at Luton, with his pin-point cross on Saturday allowing Taylor to open the scoring.
There is more to come from Christie and the more games he plays, the better he should get.
For Samba and Taylor the challenge too is too retain a level of consistency.
At Charlton last season, the 30-year-old scored 11 times and with four to his name at Forest, he is well on his way again.
