Nottingham Forest’s Director of Football Development, Gary Brazil has raved about young talent Brennan Johnson on Twitter.
The praise came on the back of the 19-year-old winning Lincoln City’s Young Player of the Year for the 2020/21 campaign.
Johnson has proved a revelation for the Imps. He’s scored 12 goals and registered 13 assists for the League One outfit, helping them into the play-offs.
Michael Appleton’s men face Sunderland in the semi-final with a Wembley place up for grabs.
After the campaign ends, Johnson will return to the City Ground where he will hope to win a place in Chris Hughton’s team.
Following his latest accolade, Brazil posted some positive words regarding the youngster on Twitter.
Johnson has eight Forest appearances to his name but is yet to earn a proper run in the first team.
That could change next season. If the Reds complete their expected clearing of the decks, plenty of places in the squad could go to youngsters.
Johnson has excelled for the Imps playing on the left-flank, whilst he can also operate in the hole behind the striker.
Having that sort of versatility will be a blessing to Hughton who saw his side showcase a toothless streak at periods of last season.
Johnson has been in tremendous form during 2020/21. The challenge for him next will be to prove he can do it regularly in the Championship.
Brazil knows a talented player when he sees one though. If he thinks he has the potential to become an elite star, then Forest are in for an exciting few years.
Johnson’s energy and ability to drive at opposing teams could prove to be a sight for sore eyes during the 2021/22 campaign.
