Reported Nottingham Forest target Ryan Longman has told Sussex Live that he hopes to emulate Arsenal-bound defender Ben White.
The England performer is currently at Euro 2020, but he’s expected to join Arsenal for £50 million when the tournament is over.
Longman could join Nottingham Forest on loan this summer. He has recently signed a new two-year deal, but Dan Ashworth has suggested another stint away from the club.
Now, the 20-year-old has suggested that White is a good role model for the youngster, given his career path.
He told Sussex Live: “There are pathways at Brighton and it’s just finding your own pathway. If a loan move is a right move for me then it is what it is.
“Ben White went out on loan a few times, that has worked for him and hopefully there will be a similar path for me.”
Forest will have to rival a host of Championship clubs for the signature of Longman. However, the Reds will surely hope that having Chris Hughton in charge will give them an edge.
Last season, Longman found the net nine times and claimed five assists last season on loan at AFC Wimbledon. He helped the Dons avoid relegation from League One.
He typically operated through the middle as a striker, although he did play 16 matches on the flanks.
Longman to Forest: Ambitious comments should delight Forest
White has really kicked on after spells on loan with Newport County and Leeds. He’s now an England international and is set to secure a big move to Arsenal.
For some time Forest have craved hungry players with a determination to improve themselves with each passing week.
Longman’s comments bode well and Forest could do with that sort of personality in the dressing room next season.
Forest desperately need to attacking reinforcements and the signs look good when it comes to adding Longman to the ranks.
