Nottingham Forest gem Brennan Johnson is set to be the subject of another bid by Premier League newcomers Brentford. The Bees have already had a bid rejected for the 20-year-old forward and now Reds supporters have had their say.
Johnson spent last season on loan with Lincoln City. His form was stunning, scoring 13 goals and claiming 14 assists as Michael Appleton’s team reached the League One play-off final.
Forest are thought to be standing firm on their valuation and Brentford will have to big in their quest to land Johnson.
The Bees won promotion last season. Interestingly, they also held an interest in Joe Worrall, although they’ve now signed Kristoffer Ajer instead.
Now, they’ve switched their focus to Johnson and fans are growing somewhat concerned. The Reds are yet to sign anyone this summer and selling the 20-year-old before any new outfield signings are made wouldn’t go down well.
Johnson’s versatility would make him integral at Forest this season. He scored twice on Saturday during a 2-2 draw with Crewe and can play on either flank or as a number 10.
Supporters urge Forest to keep Johnson
The current transfer window is proving a stark contrast to last summer when the Reds added a whole new squad of players.
Despite finishing seventh the season previous, wholesale changes were made and Forest didn’t really benefit from it.
This time around Forest have taken a more meticulous approach. Indeed, some supporters would rather nobody was signed if it meant keeping both Johnson and Worrall.
Following news of Brentford’s new bid, as reported by the Independent, Forest supporters have taken to Twitter.
Many don’t want to see the player sold at all and believe it’d be a mistake if the club bows down under pressure from Brentford.
