Nottingham Forest teenager Detlef Esapa Osong once again showed his huge potential with a brace against Liverpool Under-18’s today.

Forest’s first team have only found the net four times in five Championship outings. Some of the blame has been laid at Chris Hughton’s door, though others think that Lewis Grabban and Lyle Taylor can offer more.

There aren’t many other senior options when it comes to centre forwards. If Hughton wanted to look elsewhere, he could have to dip into the youth setup.

Now, playing a 16-year-old in a struggling side maybe isn’t the best idea. Yet in Osong, Forest appear to have a star in the making.

Forest’s Under-18’s took on Liverpool today, with Osong finding the net not once but twice.

Ben Hammond also got himself on the scoresheet in a goalfest as Liverpool came from 3-1 down to land a 3-3 draw.

Osong stole the show, and it’s not the first time.

The 16-year-old dazzled fans with a hat-trick against Wigan Athletic earlier this year. We’ve also seen Osong score against both Blackburn Rovers and Leeds United this term.

Is Osong likely to be thrown into first-team action soon? Probably not, but he is becoming hard to ignore.

Forest fans have again praised Osong, branding him ‘unbelievable’ on Twitter.

Others want Forest to give him a go in the first team, calling him a ‘baller’ and a ‘real handful’.
