Nottingham Forest defeated Bristol City 2-1 on Tuesday night to make it five wins in six games. Lyle Taylor proved the hero, scoring twice in stoppage time. After the game, Forest trickster Joe Lolley praised his teammate on Instagram.

The Reds are revitalised under boss Steve Cooper. The head coach has transformed the team and Tuesday saw Forest win a fourth game on the trot for the first time since 2013.

It was also the first time a fourth away game has been won in succession since 1995 and the supporters are buzzing. Forest fans Fulham on home soil at the weekend in a real test for Cooper’s men.

For Taylor, it was a timely return to form. Prior to his cameo appearance on Tuesday he had scored just once in 36 outings in the Championship and that simply won’t do for such a proven performer.

Lolley also contributed to the winning goal for Forest. He saw his right-footed shot saved by Dan Bentley; with Taylor on hand to tap home the rebound on the line.

The 29-year-old is another player who finds himself out of form. It is fair to say, however, that he’s looked a lot sharper during the 2021/22 campaign, especially since Cooper arrived.

What next for Taylor at Forest?

Sunday is likely to see him return to the bench as Fulham arrive on Trentside. Cooper is likely to persist with Lewis Grabban, with the 33-year-old also bang in form.

Some changes could be made and Lolley and Taylor have both given the head coach some food for thought.

Whoever gets the nod will be bang up for the game. There is newfound confidence at the City Ground and Forest fear nobody in the Championship right now.

All Taylor can do is keep taking his chances when they come. If he does that, he should get plenty of chances to start between now and the start of the season.
