Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba was the hero of the hour on Tuesday night. The Reds drew 0-0 with Luton and had the 27-year-old to thank for saving a second-half penalty. After the game, Brennan Johnson, Djed Spence and Loic Mbe Soh reacted on Instagram.

Forest were guilty of not playing in the same free-flowing way as they have been doing. That was a testament to Luton though who came with their own game plan to upset Forest’s rhythm.

Samba has endured a rollercoaster of emotions since arriving at the City Ground in 2019. He hasn’t always been on top of his games but his performance the other night was a joy to behold.

When Samba curbs his erratic tendencies there are very few better in the Championship. The challenge for him after the lastest performance is to produce this on a more frequent basis.

It wasn’t just his save from the spot that caught the eye. In the first half, he plucked a superb one-handed catch of the sky from a corner and then produced a stunning reflex save to deny Kal Naismith in injury time.

What have Johnson, Spence and Mbe Soh said about Forest star Samba?

In a bit of self-promotion, Samba opted to share his penalty save on Instagram last night. Naturally, that led to the tributes pouring in for the cat-like Forest stopper.

All three current Reds performers were on hand to offer some congratulations, with former players Tiago Silva and Yuri Ribeiro also weighing in.

Samba will keep his place between the posts when they travel to West Brom tomorrow night, looking for a return to winning ways.

Forest have now drawn four of their last five, although Cooper has overseen just one defeat in 11 games since checking in as the club’s new head coach back in September.
