Nottingham Forest linked striker Josh Maja made a return to action yesterday after a long injury lay-off.
The London-born talisman hasn’t played a single minute since a City Ground move fell through in the summer.
Forest were thought to be close to sealing a £4 million deal to bring the 22-year-old back to England on transfer deadline day.
Some outlets reported that a back problem had prevented Maja from passing a medical at Forest – although those claims weren’t confirmed.

They do make some sense though, given that he’s not played this season.
MORE FOREST STORIES
His return came in a comprehensive win for Bordeaux in the Coupe de France last night.
Bordeaux hammered M’Zouasia 10-0 on home solid to earn a comfortable progression into the fourth round of the competition.
Maja came on for the final 28 minutes and helped himself to his 12th goal in the navy blue of his current club.
The future of the former Sunderland man is perhaps still up in the air.
He will be out of contract in the summer of 2023 and it was claimed a few months back that he had little in the way of a future in France.
Talent: Will Forest return for Maja?
He’s certainly an interesting player and one that will be on the radar.
The Reds do have set criteria for signing players, with Dane Murphy very keen to sign younger talent.
Maja’s injury problems are perhaps a concern and Forest will see how he goes between now and the end of the season.

- TARGET: Forest want Newcastle man
With just a year on his deal left at the end of the campaign; Bordeaux will probably listen to offers in the summer.
Forest will need a new striker or two in the coming months and Maja remains one for Forest to keep an eye on.
