Nottingham Forest are reportedly in talks to sign Millwall winger Jed Wallace, according to a report by the Daily Mail, but there is an obstacle standing in the way of Steve Cooper.

Sky Sports claim that Turkish giants Besiktas want Wallace to sign a pre-contract agreement. That would see him stay at the New Den until the summer and then move on a free transfer.

Moving to Turkey is likely to be an attractive proposition. A more lucrative deal will be on the table than the one that Forest will offer the versatile winger.

Cooper had wanted to sign Josh Bowler from Blackpool. Forest saw a bid in excess of £1 million rejected at the weekend and now attention has turned elsewhere.

Wallace is a proven Championship winger. He has made 243 appearances for the Lions, scoring 41 goals and claiming 43 assists.

During 2021/22 he has played in a number of positions, scoring five goals and registering six assists. Philip Zinckernagel is top of the pops for Forest when it comes to setting up goals with as many as Wallace to his name.

Forest aren’t messing about this month and have already added Keinan Davis and Steve Cook to Cooper’s ranks.

Talent: Wallace would be perfect for Forest

At 27-years-old, Wallace is in his prime. That bodes well for Forest and there would be very little in the way of a settling in period for the forward.

With Alex Mighten and Joe Lolley both injured, Forest are short in attack. Davis will add something up top but Brennan Johnson and Zinckernagel are both being run into the ground right now.

Besiktas will provide an attractive option. If Wallace can be temped into staying in England, however, Forest could land themselves a very exciting deal this month.
