It is thought that Leeds United are now also in the mix to sign the 20-year-old this month.
Brentford’s latest offer is around £12 million and it’s claimed that Forest are willing to do business at no less than £15 million.
This is the latest in a long line of failed bids by the Bees. Thomas Frank appears undeterred in his attempts to prise Johnson away from the City Ground.
Now, Leeds are in the mix. The Whites are desperate for reinforcements this month and do place a lot of emphasis on talented younger players.
Johnson has featured in every single Championship game for Forest this season, scoring five goals and claiming four assists.
His performances have caught the eye, with his blistering turn of pace a particularly eye-catching attribute for potential suitors.
The son of former Forest striker, David, has been in good form during 2021/22. Last season he performed superbly well on loan at Lincoln, scoring 13 goals and claiming 14 assists.
January always looked set to be a nervy one for Forest. With Steve Cooper improving the team’s fortunes, it was only a matter of time before Premier League suitors came sniffing.
Talent: Forest can’t sell Johnson on the cheap
Last month it was claimed that Forest wouldn’t do business at less than £20 million. Now, it seems as though £15 million is the valuation placed on his head by the Reds.

If a deal is done, Forest must be ready to attack the market. Johnson leaving might allow the Reds to pay the valuations placed on Josh Bowler and Jed Wallace by their respective clubs.
It would still be a bit of a sickener to lose Johnson during a mid-season transfer window. He has match-winning qualities and replacing him would be tricky in the long term.
