Jordi Osei-Tutu has returned to Arsenal after Nottingham Forest ended his season-long loan at the City Ground.

The Reds beat off other clubs to land the youngster during the summer. He picked up a hamstring injury in his second game and hobbled out the win over Hull with another problem.

A two-month injury lay-off has seen Forest make this tough decision. News of his loan being terminated was announced earlier today by the club’s official website.

It’s a shame for the Arsenal youngster. He was an eye-catching signing when Chris Hughton added him to the ranks back in August and was expected to shine.

Osei-Tutu claimed the Man of the Match accolade during his debut against Bournemouth. He operated out of position at left-back and did a wonderful job.

Injury struck in the very next game though. That saw him sit out for three months, before returning during a 4-1 win over Swansea in December.

He played for 40 minutes of the following game against Hull. He was withdrawn just prior to half-time and ultimately it proved to be his last appearance in the Garibaldi.

What have Forest fans said about Osei-Tutu

It seems as though the majority are understanding of Osei-Tutu’s situation. Plenty have wished him well and hope that he can still forge a career in professional football.

For a young player, he’s had several injuries and he must be wondering what he needs to do in order to catch a break.

It does seem as though the right call has been made though. Forest can’t have any more than five loans in their matchday squad and with the Arsenal man injured, he’s hardly going to play.

Getting this done now allows Osei-Tutu to focus on his recovery and possibly get some games for the Arsenal under-23s between now and the end of the season.
