Brian Laws raved about Nottingham Forest star Djed Spence after the Reds dumped Arsenal out of the FA Cup.

The Reds were impressive throughout the contest. Lewis Grabban fired home the winner after some brilliant work from Brennan Johnson and Ryan Yates down the right-hand side.

Forest now faced Leicester City in the next round. The Reds’ East Midlands rivals secured their progression after a resounding win over Watford on Saturday.

Spence was once again the Forest standout. Other players were good too but the Middlesbrough loanee showcased his undoubted class once again.

Laws excelled at right-back for Forest during his career. After yesterday’s game, he couldn’t hide his delight at Spence’s performance.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: “I’ve never been so excited to watch a full-back at Forest. Honestly, Middlesbrough fans must be sitting watching that and wondering why he’s not playing for them.

“I honestly, can’t believe we’ve got him.”

Spence will remain at the City Ground for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign. He has played 19 times for the Reds and is showcasing the undeniable potential he has.

Forest fans were worried about losing him. Now, however, the player is set to stay at Forest until the end of the season and that has delighted supporters.

Class: Forest have to try and sign Spence

The Reds will probably need to win promotion but ultimately, they have to try and sign Spence. He won’t come cheap but if there is an option to take him, the club should do it.

  • CLASS: Forest star earns praise

At 21-years-old he has bags of time on his side. He has shown at Forest that with a good run of games, he is one of, if not the best, right-back in the Championship.

Spence will be integral to the Reds’ fortunes between now and the end of the season. The hope will be that he can help the team gatecrash the play-offs.
