David Johnson has sent a congratulatory message to Nottingham Forest starlet Tyrese Fornah after he joined Shrewsbury Town on loan.

The academy graduate has headed to Shrewsbury Town where he will spend the remainder of the season with Steve Cotterill’s team.

Fornah has struggled to make his mark on the first team this season. He made two appearances in the Carabao Cup but made just one appearance from the bench in the Championship.

Now, he has the perfect chance to get some game time. Shrewsbury are doing okay in League One and should avoid a relegation battle this season.

Fornah is no stranger to League One. He played 44 times for Plymouth last season and was a mainstay in Ryan Lowe’s team.

At 22 it really is time for Fornah to kick on. He has to play regular football and now he’ll hope to force his way into Steve Cooper’s plans next season.

The Forest head coach is big on having younger players in his team. He’s spoken fondly of Fornah in the past and that does bode well.

A central midfielder, he recently penned a new contract with Forest and clearly, the club views him in high esteem ahead of the future.

What has Johnson said to Forest talent Fornah?

The former Forest striker has sent some kind words to Fornah. He’s backed him for a successful loan period during his latest League One stint.

David’s son Brennan was competing against Fornah in League One last season. He scored 13 goals and claimed 14 assists for Lincoln who reached the play-off final.

Fornah will know there is a clear incentive for his latest loan. If he does well, he could be handed an opportunity under Cooper next season and he’ll be desperate to prove a point.
