Nottingham Forest Under-23s defeated QPR last night in the Premier League Cup at Alfreton Town’s Impact Arena. The Reds secured the win thanks to a late Julian Larsson goal which saw Andy Reid’s men come from 2-1 behind.

It proved to be a pulsating encounter in Derbyshire. Forest took the lead through Aaron Donnolley who nodded home a cross at the far post.

Forest fell behind though. QPR stayed in the game and Hamza Kargbo equalised shortly after the Reds had opened the scoring.

Things got even better for the visitors just before the interval. First-team star Jordy de Wijs headed home from a corner to put QPR in front.

Forest were roused by their half-time team talk though. Larsson missed a penalty 11 minutes into the second half but on the 63rd minute Fin Back did restore parity.

With the game heading for a draw, Larsson made up for his earlier error. He picked the ball up in space and after a run forward, lashed an unstoppable effort into the bottom corner.

Larsson now has five goals for the season. He is showcasing real talent and there could be more to come from the 20-year-old.

What have Forest fans said about Larsson?

It’s fair to say they seem excited by the Swedish performer. He is out of contract in the summer though and his future is up in the air at the moment.

All he can do is keep his head down and continue scoring goals. If he does that, it wouldn’t be completely out of the blue to see him handed a new deal.

He was in fine form last night and the Reds fan base enjoyed what they saw. He capped off a good display with a fine goal and the boy is clearly talented.

Here is what the Forest fan base had to say regarding Larsson after last night’s heroics.
