Leeds United have emerged as the latest club in the mix to sign Nottingham Forest loan star Djed Spence. According to Sky Sports, the Whites will rival Arsenal, Tottenham, Roma and Inter for his signature in the summer.

Spence has been a standout performer for Forest. He has been in sensational form, making 20 appearances in the Garibaldi; typically operating as a right-sided wing-back in Steve Cooper’s team.

Now, clubs are monitoring his progress. His all-action style should be suited to the Premier League and particularly Marcelo Bielsa’s heavy metal brand of free-flowing, attack-minded football.

Spence is unlikely to get another chance at Middlesbrough. Chris Wilder will likely have his own ideas and as a result, they could cash in on the Forest loanee during the summer transfer window.

At 21-years-old, the defender is a real talent. He’s barely put a foot wrong at the City Ground and has become a firm favourite on Trentside.

Forest would love to keep him. The signing of Richie Laryea, however, does suggest that contingency plans are already being made for the end of his loan.

Bielsa has seen his Leeds squad decimated this season. They should have enough to stay in the Premier League this time around and will want to be well-stocked during 2022/23.

Perfect: Spence could be ideal fit for Leeds after Forest stint

If Leeds want to progress they’ll probably look to target better than Luke Ayling. In the signing of Spence, the Yorkshiremen could have their right-back position sorted for the next 10 years!

Bielsa’s teams are renowned for playing on the front foot. That would suit Spence, who simply loves to maraud forward whenever he can during a game.

Seeing him strutting his stuff at Elland Road would hurt the Forest faithful. However, unless the Reds win promotion, their chances of signing the £12m-rated Spence are nothing more than a pipedream.
