Nottingham Forest will offer Connor Goldson a pre-contract this month as the Rangers defender sweats on his Ibrox future. According to The Scottish Sun, the Reds will be rivalled by West Brom in the quest to land the 29-year-old.
Goldson could see his time at Rangers come to an end. Last season, he helped the club to a first Scottish Premiership crown in 10 years as the Gers ended Celtic’s stranglehold on the domestic division.
Signed by Steven Gerrard in 2018 from Brighton, Goldson has become a fan favourite. He has made 195 appearances for the Gers, scoring 17 goals and claiming seven assists for the club.
His contract will expire in the summer. It seems almost certain he will quite the Ibrox-based club and Forest are waiting in the wings to pounce.
Interestingly, Forest will probably seek Goldson as a possible replacement for Joe Worrall. He does look to be Premier League-bound in the near future and the Reds will need reinforcements.
Together, Worrall and Goldson made 27 appearances together, with the Gers losing just six times during that period.
The loan at Rangers proved a huge learning curve for Worrall and now Goldson may be about to jump into his shoes at the City Ground.
Experience: Goldson could be useful addition at Forest
The Rangers defender doesn’t really tick the young or hungry boxes that Dane Murphy so often likes to tick when recruiting players.
Like Steve Cook though, he won’t command a transfer fee and that would represent another piece of savvy summer business from Forest.

Goldson has bags of experience and with Scott McKenna and Loic Mbe Soh in the ranks, Forest would still have plenty of younger talent available to them.
Forest will have to fend off interest from West Brom and they might be able to offer a more substantial package to the defender.
Under Steve Cooper, the Reds look like they can really go places, however, and being part of that project may just tempt Goldson.
