Nottingham Forest are set to make a final play to snatch Jed Wallace from Millwall on transfer deadline day, according to Football Insider.

The Reds have been linked with the 27-year-old through the month of January. Forest have seen no fewer than three bids rejected already for the talented Championship performer.

Now, they could be set to test Millwall’s resolve on transfer deadline day. The Lions’ influential winger will be out of contract at the end of the season.

Wallace has registered 11 goal contributions this season but has missed the last month with a minor thigh problem.

His absence from matchday squads has intensified the interest from Forest. Leeds, Middlesbrough and Besiktas are also thought to be monitoring the situation.

Wallace is a proven performer in the second-tier. He has been a star for the South Londoners during the last five years and Gary Rowett doesn’t want to lose him.

It was claimed earlier this month that Wallace was valued at £9 million. That amount seems a pipe dream from a Millwall perspective given his perilous contract situation.

Now, Forest are preparing one final attempt to get something in place before tomorrow’s deadline.

Huge: Forest signing Wallace would be real statement

The Reds landing the versatile forward would be the tip of the iceberg as far as Forest’s transfer window goes.

With Alex Mighten and Joe Lolley injured, Forest could certainly do with one more signing to bolster the attacking ranks.

Wallace has played wide or through the middle this season and as a result, he looks tailor-made for a Steve Cooper system.

It will be interesting to see if Millwall will stand firm, or whether they might sanction a sale to avoid their star man walking away for free next summer.

Deadline day for Forest just got a whole lot more interesting for Forest supporters.
