‘Next stop Man City’: Lyle Taylor hails Nottingham Forest ace Djed Spence

Nottingham Forest fans have fallen in love with Djed Spence – but they always say you shouldn’t fall in love with loan players.

Snapped up on loan from Middlesbrough back in August, Spence needed games and seemingly wasn’t going to get them at Boro.

Fast forward five months and Spence is being linked with half of the Premier League and has landed himself in the hearts of Forest fans.

Spence, 21, produced another outstanding performance on Sunday to help Forest demolish bitter rivals Leicester City 4-1 at the City Ground.

Spence managed to get the cherry on top of the icing in the second half, exchanging passes with Philip Zinckernagel before firing past Danny Ward.

That finish was superb in its own right. Spence had an easy square pass to Keinan Davis for a tap-in, but instead buried a shot into the net with the outside of his right foot.

Hailed as ‘absolutely brilliant’ by Gary Lineker, Spence is likely to head back to Middlesbrough this summer and then be sold on.

In a dream world, Forest win promotion and can sign Spence permanently, but that’s no guarantee.

Premier League clubs are queueing up for Spence, and Lyle Taylor has now joked that Manchester City will be in the mix too.

Taylor, recently loaned out by Forest to Birmingham City, took to Instagram to call himself ‘Agent Lyle’ again – something we have seen before when talking about Spence.

Taylor said that not even he can ‘save this deal now’, possibly suggesting Forest’s hopes of a permanent deal are dwindling.

The striker added ‘next stop Man City’ for Spence, and the sky really does appear to be the limit for the right back as he continues to shine under Steve Cooper.
