Nottingham Forest loan star James Garner took some time out from pulling the strings in the Reds midfield to attend Kell Brook’s fight with Amir Khan on Saturday night.
Forest were due to play Bournemouth on Friday night. The game was postponed amid safety concerns and Forest have an extended period of rest prior to Tuesday’s game with Preston.
Garner used his downtime to attend the all-British affair at the Manchester Arena. Brook stopped Khan inside round six to offer a timely reminder of his qualities as a fighter.
The 20-year-old has been a brilliant player for Forest this season. He has become a mainstay in the side under Steve Cooper, with the head coach getting the best out of him.
Garner is in his second stint at the City Ground. He made 20 appearances during the second half of 2020/21, scoring four goals and shining under Chris Hughton.
Now, he’s flying in a side that is playing some lovely football. The midfielder has showcased his versatility, sometimes playing in a number 10 role behind a recognised striker.
The youngster looks set for stardom and Forest must enjoy him whilst they can before he heads back to Manchester United.
What did Forest star Garner have to say about Brook v Khan?
In fairness, he didn’t say a lot at all. He shared a photograph of his view, which did look particularly great in total honesty.
He then shared a picture of Brook after his win with a simple flame emoji next to it; implying that he wanted the Sheffield-based scrapper to win the fight.
Brook has a number of options for his next fight if he decides that he’s not ready for retirement just yet.
Similarly, with Garner, he’s likely to have a number of options to choose from in the summer.
After a promising spell at Forest, he’ll fancy forcing his way in the reckoning at United. If he doesn’t, a Premier League loan spell surely beckons for Garner.
