Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson has told the Sky Sports EFL podcast that Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey as the two best players he’s played with.

Johnson has become a regular in the Wales squad in the last 12 months and he’s still waiting to hold down a regular place.

He is now an integral part of the Forest team and under Steve Cooper, the youngster has started every single game for the Reds.

He’s fired 15 goals this season and also registered eight assists for the club he supported as a boy.

Johnson does have Premier League clubs looking at him. Brentford saw four bids rejected in January; with Leeds, Newcastle and Tottenham reportedly keen ahead of the summer.

Given that he’s been away with the Wales ranks during recent international breaks, it’s perhaps no surprise that he’s chosen a couple of stars as the best players he’s played with.

He told the Sky Sports EFL podcast: “Gareth Bale or Aaron Ramsey. Definitely one of those two, they’re both unbelievable. Djed is a close second.

Johnson’s partnership with Spence this season has been exciting. They’ve wreaked havoc against lots of teams this season and the supporters have been purring at the duo.

Forest form has thrust Johnson towards stardom

There is little doubt, having watched him this season, that Johnson is set for a massive move when the time is right for him to leave Forest.

If the Reds get promoted, it seems likely that Johnson will pledge his future to the club. If they don’t then the Premier League could come calling.

A shot at the top-flight could be huge for Wales. It would see one of their exciting talents rubbing shoulders with top players on a frequent basis.

Bale and Ramsey are approaching the twilight of their careers. As a result, Rob Page will be hoping someone like Johnson can step up and become the main man in his team.
