Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson has told the Sky Sports EFL podcast that Joe Worrall is the biggest character at the City Ground.

The 20-year-old was taking part in Ten to Tackle on this week’s show and he believes the central defender is very much Mr Nottingham Forest.

The pair have been instrumental in Forest’s meteoric rise up the Championship under Steve Cooper and both are wanted men.

Premier League clubs are sniffing around the duo. Worrall nearly departed the City Ground last summer, whilst Johnson came close to joining Brentford in January.

Forest in the boardroom have shown some real resistance of late though. CEO Dane Murphy chose not to cash in on any prized assets and the Reds are reaping the rewards.

Johnson has scored 15 goals and claimed eight assists this season but he’s praised Worrall as the real character in the team’s dressing room.

He told the Sky Sports EFL podcast: “Joe Worrall is the biggest character. Definitely. He’s been at the club for so long. He’s loud and he’s really confident.”

Both Johnson and Worrall will be in the team when Forest head to Luton on Good Friday for a massive Championship fixture.

Worrall is class but his time at Forest could end this summer

If the Reds fail in their promotion quest, there will be no player more deserving of a shot at the Premier League than Worrall.

He’s made over 170 appearances for the club and has served them with distinction since his debut in 2016.

As a result, the club would be wise to grant him his wish of a move, with Everton and West Ham thought to be monitoring the player closely.

In fairness, Forest aren’t bad for centre-backs either. Steve Cook, Scott McKenna, Loic Mbe Soh and Jonathan Panzo are all under contract for next season.

It’s no surprise to hear Johnson praise Worrall and he’s the perfect captain to be leading Forest in their promotion battle.
