Nottingham Forest midfielder James Garner wrote a hilarious message on Sam Surridge’s match ball after the striker scored a hat-trick yesterday.

The on-loan Manchester United man registered two more assists yesterday; taking his tally to 10 for the 2021/22 campaign.

Forest thrashed Swansea 5-1 at the City Ground with Surridge taking his tally in a red shirt to eight.

A Cyrus Christie own goal and a strike from Alex Mighten ensured a comfortable win for the Reds and kept up their automatic promotion hopes.

Surridge was a man possessed. He grabbed the game by the scruff of the next in the second half and on another day he might have scored more goals.

The 23-year-old looks like an inspired signing. He cost the club just £2 million from Stoke in January; with the move attracting some ridicule from Potters fans.

Forest have already had a decent return from Surridge. His goals have proved important and he looks like becoming a big player for the club in the future.

With Garner providing the service, strikers will always get chances to score goals and it’s no surprise he’s now hit double figures for assists this season.

What has Garner said to Forest star Surridge?

In a comical quip, the on-loan Manchester United man has suggested that he stuck two of Surridge’s goals in a plate.

He etched the words ‘you’re welcome‘ when signing his match-ball, with Garner showcasing a cocky, yet amusing, persona.

The 21-year-old has been magnificent for the Reds and ultimately he’s been a brilliant loan signing made by Forest.

Steve Cooper enjoys working with younger players and he’s certainly proved a useful coach for Garner’s career.

Forest will hope the youngster has a few more assists up his sleeve between now and next Saturday.
