Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson turned 21 yesterday and he received a touching message from Manchester United and England legend David Beckham.
The Reds academy sensation has been in wonderful form during 2021/22. He has scored 19 goals and claimed 10 assists in his maiden campaign playing Championship football.
Johnson has Forest on the brink of the Premier League. He is the team’s top goalscorer this season and under the guidance of Steve Cooper, he’s really showcased his potential.
The Reds will probably need a win on Sunday to keep the youngster. Brentford saw four bids rejected in January; with Newcastle, Leeds, Leicester and Tottenham all thought to be keen too.
Johnson is seemingly close to Beckham. His dad played with Beckham during his time rising through the academy ranks at Old Trafford.
With that in mind, the former Red Devils star is taking a keen interest in Johnson’s progress in the senior ranks at Forest.
The 21-year-old is Reds through and through. He has been at Forest since the age of eight and winning promotion on Sunday would mean the world to the youngster.
His dad has been watching on from the stands all season and on Sunday, Beckham might be a keen spectator too.
Beckham sends emotional message to Forest star Johnson and that must boost his confidence
The former England captain has been very complimentary of Johnson. He took to Instagram to call him ‘young, talented but more importantly a great kid’ and that must give his ego a boost.
Forest forward Johnson is laid back anyway. It is, however, always nice to receive such positive praise; especially from someone so well respected in football.
Beckham is one of the best crossers of the ball to have ever played the game. He won the lot in England with Manchester United and he also played for Real Madrid, PSG and AC Milan.
Johnson has some way to go in order to achieve what Beckham did during his career. He is on the right track though and Premier League football beckons next season.
