Nottingham Forest want Serge Aurier as the free agent becomes the latest name linked with a move to the City Ground.

If you thought Forest’s summer transfer spree was done with a deal for Morgan Gibbs-White, you can absolutely think again.

Wolves defender Willy Boly is one target whilst another right wing back is seemingly on the radar for Steve Cooper and co.

Atalanta ace Hans Hateboer has been linked this weekend, but this time it’s a player with some Premier League experience.

Nottingham Forest want Serge Aurier

French radio station RMC Sport now report that Forest are interested in snapping up free agent Serge Aurier.

It’s stated that Forest are the club showing the most interest in Aurier, with moves to Reims and Nantes not on the cards due to Aurier’s wage demands.

It’s added that Atletico Madrid, Fulham and Galatasaray have also looked into signing Aurier but Forest are emerging as a real option.

Aurier, 29, is a free agent having seen his Villarreal contract come to an end this summer.

Aurier’s Tottenham deal was terminated by mutual consent in August 2021, and Aurier spent last season playing under Unai Emery in Spain.

The Ivorian international has Premier League experience having spent four seasons with Tottenham, playing 77 times in the Premier League.

Aurier certainly divided opinion at Tottenham; sometimes capable of making a real impact going forward but sometimes being a liability at the back.

Forest want competition for Neco Williams at right wing back but a deal for Aurier just doesn’t excite us.

Williams should be a key player for Forest and committing considerable wages to Aurier only for him to be competition and possibly spend most of his time on the bench just doesn’t add up.

Aurier’s Premier League experience may appeal, but his limited consistent impact with Tottenham will leave Forest fans more than a little dubious about this potential move.
