Nottingham Forest will sign Michy Batshuayi later this evening and according to the Evening Stanard, the Reds are getting him for free.

Chelsea are finally cutting their losses on the 28-year-old and he is due in Nottingham for a medical.

Batshuayi was on loan at Besiktas last season, scoring 14 goals and registering five assists.

He hasn’t really made an impact at Chelsea with various managers preferring to utilise other attacking options.

Batshuayi has spent time on loan at a number of clubs, with impressive spells coming at Crystal Palace and Dortmund.

At Selhurst Park, he scored eight goals from 33 appearances but was frozen out under Roy Hodgson during a second spell at the club.

Forest are now taking the player on a free transfer and he will complete the team’s attacking ranks ahead of the deadline.

The Reds have also signed Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis this summer and options are in abundance.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has forced him down his pecking order and he’s not been in a matchday squad this season.

Forest to sign Batshuayi on a free

This looks like another masterstroke from the powers that be pulling the strings at the football club.

For Chelsea, however, they might be rueing their decision not to offload him sooner.

Dortmund were keen to sign him following a loan spell at the club in 2018 but were put off by the £50 million valuation.

Frank Lampard was a big fan of the player during his time as manager of the Blues, calling his finishing attributes ‘quality’.

Forest will hope he can fire the club to safety this season and the challenge for Steve Cooper is to get him back to his best.
