Nottingham Forest striker Julian Larsson is set to sign a permanent deal with Olympiacos, according to Talent About and looks set to travel out to Greece.

The Swedish performer signed for Forest in 2020 from AIK. He did go to certain games with the squad last season but never actually made the matchday group.

Now, he will head off to Olympiacos. First, he will link up with the B Team as they look to nurture the player into a first-team star.

Larsson was in fine form for the Forest under-23s last season. He bagged nine goals and helped himself to five assists.

It’s a shame that Forest haven’t been able to do more to get Larsson into the first team. Ultimately, it was always going to be hard once the team won promotion.

Some youngsters will now have to play a waiting game. Larsson is one of those and sadly he doesn’t want to wait for a chance at Forest.

This season has been a tough one for the 21-year-old. His strike partner from last season, Will Swan, has gone to Mansfield on loan and that has made things tough for him.

Now, he will embark on a new chapter in Greece and he will hope to quickly become a first-team regular at the club.

Andy Reid is a huge fan of the player. He called him ‘absolutely magic’ last season after another sound performance.

Clearly, Forest have higher hopes for some of their other young strikers. Dale Taylor and Detlef Esapa Osong are two with particularly high ceilings.

Larsson would have been out of contract in the summer anyway so this move does make sense from that point of view.

It’s always a shame when youngsters leave without a first-team chance. Ultimately, not all of them will be good enough, however, and Larsson falls into that category.

It was always going to be a challenge in the Premier League, especially for any younger players who are coming through the ranks.

Larsson now has the chance to shine for Olympiacos and get himself into their senior ranks.
