Nottingham Forest stars Ryan Yates and Taiwo Awoniyi have raved about Morgan Gibbs-White after yesterday’s game with Leicester. The 22-year-old set up both of the goals for Brennan Johnson during a 2-0 victory.

Gibbs-White signed for Forest in the summer for an initial fee of £25 million. The transfer fee could rise to a potential £42.5 million should he enjoy success at the City Ground.

Right now, the youngster is showcasing some real talent. On current form, he must look like a decent bet to be handed a call-up to the England squad and he’s playing ridiculously well.

Gibbs-White’s pass to Johnson for the team’s second goal was a joy to behold. He played a wonderful effort with the outside of his right boot, with Johnson going on to smash home beyond Danny Ward.

The player has really warmed to the Reds faithful of late. He now has six goal contributions this season and that is actually more than any Wolves player has managed so far during 2022/23.

Gibbs-White came in for some criticism against his former club on Wednesday night. The Reds knocked Wolves out of the Carabao Cup and set up a date against Manchester United.

It’s hard not to feel some sympathy for Awoniyi. He scored his fifth goal of the season in the win against Southampton but then limped off with what looked like a groin problem.

He didn’t play yesterday and was forced to watch the game from the stands. He simply commented ‘top’ in response to Gibbs-White who took to Instagram shortly after the final whistle.

Ryan Yates was forced out of the action yesterday after getting a whack in the face. He also raved about Gibbs-White after the game and called the player ‘quality’ after his heroic performance.

The scary thing about Gibbs-White is his potential. He could get even better over the next few years and he looks like a truly wonderful signing made by Forest in the summer.
