Nottingham Forest sporting director Filippo Giraldi has completed his first signing after the capture of Danilo was announced. The ex-Watford figure has been a busy man in preparation for the January transfer window, with Steve Cooper looking at several new recruits.
Forest did sign 22 players during the summer transfer window. However, a mini-injury crisis has left the Reds with no choice but to crack out the chequebook once again.
Danilo has joined the club from Palmeiras. He made 58 appearances last season, scoring seven goals and claiming four assists as the team romped to the title in Brazil.

Now, he’s joined his former teammate Gustavo Scarpa at the City Ground. The player explained that he spoke with the 29-year-old before taking the leap and he spoke highly of the club.
Giraldo was responsible for some brilliant signings at Watford. He brought Etienne Capoue to the Hornets and was also responsible for Richarlison making his way to England.
After getting his first Forest deal under his belt, Giraldi spoke to the club’s official website. He explained that he was pleased to get the deal over the line.
Giraldi said: “We are really happy to welcome Danilo to our club and our city.
“He is a fantastic talent that will be a great asset for the present and the future of Nottingham Forest.”
Danilo announced at Forest and Giraldi is delighted
This looks like a big deal to get over the line. Forest have courted Danilo for a little while and perhaps more intriguing, the player was linked with Arsenal in the summer.
Newcastle and Leeds also came into the discussion this month, but Forest saw the deal through. Now, it will be intriguing to see how the player can perform in the Premier League.

Danilo is a defence-minded midfielder and as Giraldi says, he’s a big talent. He looks set for a really bright future and being handed a lengthy contract certainly shows faith in the player.
This looks like a deal with one eye on the future. Given the number of games he’s played, however, he also looks capable of making an impact immediately.
