Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has lauded Chris Wood as he prepares to sign for Nottingham Forest on loan until the end of the season.
The Reds have moved quickly to sign a striker. It was revealed this week that Taiwo Awoniyi will be out for two months.
Wood will provide lots of experience to the Forest ranks and also knows what it takes to emerge successful from a fight against relegation.
The 31-year-old has been allowed to leave the Magpies, with Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak both now fully fit.

Wood checked in at St James’ Park last January for £25 million and helped them remain in the Premier League.
Now, Forest are hoping that he can make a similar impact at the City Ground, although he won’t be able to play at Bournemouth tomorrow.
Howe thinks the Reds are getting themselves a great deal and has offered some insight as to what they can expect.
He told the Chronicle Live: “Chris has been a huge player for us, I have to say he’s been outstanding in every way possible.
“When we signed him we were in a very difficult league position. He played a huge part on the pitch and helped transform the team.
“This season he’s been excellent on and off the pitch when he’s not played.”
Howe has lauded Wood and it bodes well for Forest
Forget what the Twitter trolls of social media will say, behind the scenes, it seems as though Wood is a model professional.
He works hard at his game and with 54 Premier League goals to his name, this does look like a sound piece of business.

Wood will add something to the squad and the only slight shame is that he won’t be able to play tomorrow.
Still, he will now get a couple of weeks on the training pitch with his new teammates ready for Leeds at home in a fortnight.
Forest desperately needed another talisman and according to Eddie Howe, they might have hit the jackpot.
