BT Sport pundit Darren Fletcher has told the Garibaldi Red Podcast that Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White reminds him of Jack Grealish from his Aston Villa days.

The England international made a £100 million move to Manchester City prior to the 2021/22 campaign and has now kicked on under Pep Guardiola.

His role at the Etihad Stadium is rather different though, with Villa often giving him a free license to roam around the pitch with unbelievable grace.

Fletcher is a Forest supporter and he joined the Nottinghamshire Live podcast to discuss all things Forest after the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth.

The Reds earned a point thanks to a late goal from Sam Surridge but it was Gibbs-White’s pass to Brennan Johnson in the build-up that caught the eye.

The BT Sport commentator thinks that he sees a resemblance to Grealish when he sees Gibbs-White strutting his stuff in the Garibaldi.

Fletcher told the Garibaldi Red Podcast: “When you watch him play now and the form he’s in now, he’s got that look of Jack Grealish at Aston Villa.

“He’s got that look about him, he’s everywhere and he’s like, ‘this is my grass and I’m going to enjoy it’.

“He’s even got the same image with the socks and he reminds me at the minute of Grealish at Villa and that can only be a good thing.”

This is a pretty good comparison to be fair. Clearly, the Forest man has some way to go to really be compared to Grealish but they do have a similar air of elegance.

Gibbs-White has proved a wonderful signing for the Reds. He did cost a fee that could eventually rise to around £42 million but you pay for quality in this day and age.

Forest fought off Everton to secure the player’s signature and how they would love a player with the creative spark of Gibbs-White in their team right now.

The Reds have signed a quality talent in Gibbs-White and hopefully, in the future, he can be rubbing shoulders with Grealish on the international stage.
