Everton are thought to be furious after Nottingham Forest linked Arnaut Danjuma chose Tottenham at the eleventh hour. The Dutchman is expected to sign for Spurs today and Fabrizio Romano claims that the Toffees are livid.

In fairness, Danjuma has done them pretty dirty. Everything was sorted. He had a medical at the weekend, gave Everton his word that he would sign and even filmed an unveiling video with the media team.

The 25-year-old will now sign for Tottenham. He headed to the capital last night to complete a medical and sign the relevant paperwork to complete a move from Villarreal.

Forest were thought to be in the mix to sign Danjuma too. They ended up not signing him, with the player believing that a better off was on the table at Goodison Park.

The Reds would have been happy to sign the player but he wouldn’t have been cheap. It was claimed at the weekend that Danjuma was set to be paid £100,000-a-week at Everton after they’d paid a £2.5 million loan fee.

The player once called ‘spectacular’ by Pierre van Hooijdonk should be a useful addition. He’s scored six times this season and during 2021/22 he scored 16 times as Villarreal reached the last four of the Champions League.

It’s fair to say that the Reds are probably best off out of this one. Danjuma gave Everton his word and then chose to turn his back on them. That probably indicates he probably wouldn’t have been the character for Steve Cooper.

Forest will go back to the drawing board. They do still want another attacker this month and an injection of pace to their forward line will likely be the order of the day for the club.

There is a positive for Forest, however. Everton are facing a losing battle to bolster their squad. As a result, they look to be heading firmly towards relegation to the Championship.

Danjuma should be capable of doing the business at Tottenham. He will likely get the fans excited and he will now try and help Spurs towards the top four again.
