Nottingham Forest face Fulham this afternoon looking to continue their fine run of form in 2023. The Reds have claimed 11 points from the calendar year so far, with no other Premier League team taking more.

The Reds won 1-0 against Leeds United last time out. Brennan Johnson scored the game’s only goal as he volleyed home an unstoppable effort in the 14th minute.

Today provides Forest with not only a test but also an opportunity. They know that a win will put further daylight between them and the bottom three and Steve Cooper will know that.

Ahead of the clash, we look at the predicted team that Cooper will utilise at Craven Cottage this afternoon.

Predicted Nottingham Forest team to play Fulham

The Forest rearguard

Keylor Navas was the hero of the hour last weekend. Cooper called him ‘outstanding’ and he will keep his place between the posts.

One change could take place and it could come at right-back. Serge Aurier was on the bench last week but after being introduced at half-time, he helped Forest claim a big win.

Elsewhere, it should be much of the same. Renan Lodi will play at left-back, with Scott McKenna and Willy Boly continuing at the heart of the defence.

It’s hard to imagine much changing in this respect. Ryan Yates is still out injured so won’t be available; whilst Lewis O’Brien is no longer in the 25-man squad.

As a result, Remo Freuler should keep the captain’s armband, Danilo is likely to play the holding role, with Orel Mangala also playing in the middle of the park.

Cheikhou Kouyate isn’t a million miles away from a return but he will remain sidelined here.

Leading the Forest line

There could be one change to the line-up here as Cooper looks to secure a second away win in the Premier League.

Sam Surridge was good when he came on at Bournemouth and he might come in for Chris Wood at Craven Cottage.

Elsewhere, it should be more of the same. Brennan Johnson and Morgan Gibbs-White are matchwinners in their own right and will both be selected.
